My photo teacher at the University of Georgia discouraged me from taking pictures of kids and dogs when on a feature hunt. He said they were clichés and meant you were taking the easy way out. That’s probably true in many cases, but some photos are clichés for a reason. Kids are cute. Dogs are cute. People like them. This child’s happiness caught my attention while driving home and I pulled my car over to take some shots of him running around. It ended up in the paper the next day.
